We’re proud to share a landmark achievement for our region and our patients at Sovereign ENT.
Dr Nadine de Alwis, in collaboration with the dedicated team at St John of God Hospital,
has successfully performed the very first cochlear implant procedure in Ballarat.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in bringing advanced hearing care to our local community.
Cochlear implants can make a profound difference for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss,
restoring access to sound and opening the door to clearer communication and improved quality of life.
This achievement has also been made possible through close collaboration with Cassandra Kerr Audiology,
whose expertise in hearing assessment, device programming, and ongoing rehabilitation plays a vital role in the cochlear implant journey.
From pre-operative evaluation through to long-term follow-up care, their contribution helps ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
At Sovereign ENT, we are committed to delivering leading edge, patient centred care to regional Victoria.
We are incredibly proud of Dr de Alwis and the SJOG team, alongside Cassandra Kerr Audiology, for making this service a reality in Ballarat.
If you would like to learn more about cochlear implants or find out whether you or a loved one may be a candidate,
we welcome you to contact the Sovereign ENT team.
This achievement marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for hearing services in Ballarat
and we’re honoured to be part of it.
Sovereign ENT Leads the Way with Ballarat’s First Cochlear Implant
We’re excited to share that Dr de Alwis will be stepping out of the operating theatre and onto the dance floor…
Widely recognised as one of Ballarat’s most anticipated nights of entertainment and community spirit, Dancing with Our Stars
brings together local personalities who are willing to challenge themselves for a great cause. Each participant is paired with a
professional dancer and commits to an intensive ten-week training program, learning new skills, pushing personal boundaries,
and preparing for a spectacular live performance.
Dr de Alwis is proud to be taking part in this incredible event, all in support of the Ballarat Foundation.
Throughout the journey, participants work not only on their dance routines but also on raising vital funds that directly
benefit local programs and initiatives within our community.
Every donation made helps create meaningful impact across Ballarat, supporting those in need and
strengthening the community we are proud to serve.
We are thrilled to support Dr de Alwis in this inspiring endeavour and encourage our patients and community to get behind her.
Stay tuned for updates on her progress, and if you’d like to contribute, every donation…big or small, makes a difference!
Let’s cheer her on as she takes on this exciting challenge for a truly worthwhile cause!
